Why doesn't MAC cosmetics want to sell the products in new areas?

I live in Eastern Europe and a lot of people in my country like these products and I would like to bring them in my store, but as far as I have read they don't allow anyone new to sell their products. Why is that? They are just cosmetics ... professional, but cosmetics. Since their slogan is ALL races, ALL ages, ALL sexes they should respect that in all terms. Do you know any wholesaler of the original items? Thanks a lot!Why doesn't MAC cosmetics want to sell the products in new areas?
It isn't anything personal. MAC only sells their products through MAC retail and major department stores. This is why you won't find MAC at sephora. They are a huge market and only go through major major retailers, who promise to move a surplus amount every month. They only deal with Macy's bloomingdales, nordstroms, henri bendel, saks fifth etcWhy doesn't MAC cosmetics want to sell the products in new areas?
prolly has alot to do with politics...
Because it is a lot of work to work with you government to bring in cosmetic items. It is not worth going through all of that bother to import to one store and expanding into your country is not part of the corporate plan. MAC is a subsidiary of Estee Lauder, and EL decides which country they will expand into next. We are taking about HUGE multi-billion dollar business, with stockholders and boards of director to appease, unfortunately, your little store is not even on their radar.

I would stick with smaller, independent companies like Urban Decay and Stila, you may have more luck.
unless you own a major department store, otherwise they wont let you sell it

b/c they are high end and therefore exclusive to only the big timer wholesalers =)

imagine if any one with a wholesale license can get their hands on L.V. or coach purses, products, and sell at their stores or anywhere they sell their stuff (such as swapmeet, not that all wholesalers do LOL) then it wouldn't be namebrands and wouldn't be exclusive ya know therefore wont worth as much

also namebrand stuff usually have to have a set price

if a single wholesaler wants to make more money but lowering the product's selling price (more customer would come to them for products) that would ultimately lower the product's value

LOL

hope this makes sense
